Introduction
The DOHC oil pump is difficult to get to. It is part of the timing chain cover and requires removing the oil pan to gain access. See the tutorial on DOHC timing chain for instruction on removing the timing chain cover.
checking oil pressure
1. Remove oil temperature sensor. Use a 27 mm long socket or a long 1 inch socket.(must be star socket) (26mm and 1 inch may work). You are grabbing onto the metal part. A small adjustable wrench might work if you grab it . You have to squeeze through the area between the intake bracket and oil filter.
2. The thread for the temp sensor is m10 or 1/8 bspt. Most gauges are american with 1/8 npt so you need and adapter to convert bspt to pt. ie 1/8 bspt male to 1/8 npt female. you can google for info on bspt and npt.
3. apparently, you can remove the intake manifold brackets permanately. if installing a permanate oil gauge you will have trouble because sending unit is too big to fit between filter and bracket.
