WARNING: These compressed springs are dangerous. Make certain you know how to use your spring compressor. Don't ever have the spring pointing towards a person.
Parts
-munroe shock approx $50 each(right and left)-boots approx $12 each
Tools
-breaker bar for spindle bolts-14 and 17 mm ratchet-second 17 mm ratchet or wrench-silicone or new gasket-primer and paint if you plan on painting springs-marker-compressor(usually free at local parts store)-hammer and screw driver for clips-torque wrench-rubber mallet for moving compressor sideways under spring-crescent wrench to rotate piston to fit lock washer
Removal Procedure
WARNING: Do not remove piston rod lock nut until springs are compressed with tool.
1. Remove 3 14mm mounting nuts. Loosen 17 mm lock nut ,BUT DONT REMOVE.
2. Remove brake line
Remove clip with screwdrive and hammer.
2.Remove 2 17 mm nuts/bolts attaching spindle to strut assembly and remove strut assembly from vehicle. you may need breaker bar.
4. mark reference points on top and bottom as pictured. i used touchup paint. or white out. or grease pencil. marke T on top of spring so you remember which is top.
4. Compress spring with tool
You will have to use rubber mallet to slide compressor to catch 3 levels of spring.
5. Remove piston rod lock nut.There will still be tension so be careful as top may fly off.
Assembly
1. Assembly new strut and torque lock nut
2. Make sure all reference points are aligned and release spring pressure
3. install strut assembly on vehicle
4. replace brake line
5. recheck lock nut torque with vehicle on ground
6. Go for alignment
Torque specs
1. 17 mm piston rod locking nut 43-58 ft lbs2. 3-14mm mounting bolts 29-40 ft lbs3. 2-17mm spindle bolts 84-98 ft lbs
