Hi everyone, I am new to the site and wanted to introduce myself and pose a question.

Just bought my Wife a 2008 Pathfinder SE 4X4 with premium package and moonroof last Sat. Her and I are both lifetime subscribers to Sirius satellite, and the Nissan came with XM. I have talked to a few places and all have told me there is no converter to change the xm to sirius. I know we could add a satellite radio outside the dash but since this vehicle has the LCD information center we would like to keep everything behind the dash and looking clean. Has anyone here ran into this problem and if so were you able to find any modules/converters??? There's gotta be something we can do.......I hope

Thanks for your help.

-Mike

no converter that I know of XM and Sirius run off 2 different satellite systems (XM is geostationary and Sirius, according to Wikipedia, "does not as yet use geostationary satellites, though plans to expand their network in 2008 will add one. Currently, its three satellites fly in geosynchronous highly elliptical orbit (Tundra orbit) in a 24-hour orbital period.") As far as I know, they use 2 different types of antennas and radios, but not sure if this is a marketing thing or if its 2 different signals.... The 2 companies are merging into 1 so we'll see if that makes any difference.... I have Sirius in my home and QX4 and it's OK.... i had XM years ago and they are pretty damn similar....

Thanks for the info. I definately dont see the two merging anytime soon, if ever.

For me there is a HUGE difference between the two, first is Sirius has God/Howard Stern and 2nd we have lifetime subscriptions to Sirius.

Hopefully someone here has run into this same issue and found a solution.

Thanks,

yea fuelers right, the 2 are merging. i have siruis in my pathfinder and been trying to follow this deal kinda closely. from what i understand, when the merger actually happens, nothing will really change as far as your service. but they will start letting subscribers of each company pick certain channels from the other ones service. granted we cant do it with the radios we have now, you have to buy a new one thats produced for post-merger use. ive never seen any kind of convertor tht lets you use one service with another radio.

I know the two are trying to merge, but again I dont see it happening anytime soon. I know every other vehicle that comes with xm can be converted to sirius, and vise versa. It can very easily be done. For some reason I guess no one has made the converter for this model Pathfinder yet. I spoke with a guy from tss-radio.com and he said this model pathfinder is the only vehicle he knows of currently that does not have a converter yet. Heard the same thing from Crutchfeild...

Has anyone here figured out a way to do it? Man what a total bummer...

Thanks,

-Mike
