06 Pathfinder oil pressure gauge on HIGH???

Postby supreme360 » Tue Oct 20, 2009 11:52 am

I changed the oil on my 06 Pathfinder on Saturday, 4 days ago and all was fine. This morning when i went to start the truck, the oil pressure gauge was moving with the throtle gauge then just went all they way up past the H??? Now when i start the truck it shoots right up to high and i know the truck is not even warmed up yet. I checked the oil and everything is fine, no leaks? Any ideas?? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2005 pathfinder and it is doing the same thing to me. It started earlier today to run high in traveling and in normal range during idle. Now, later the same day, it is going to the H level immediately when started and doesn't flexuate at all during travel. I am using 5w30 and was changed 2 weeks ago (900 miles). It currently has about 131,000 miles and hasn't had a lick of problems. I assume it may be the sending unit.

This is a common issue with 4.0L engines, unplug the oil sender, gauge should go to LOW. If it does, replace the sender.

I have 2006 Pathfinder and the engine pressure gauge was over the High level about 2 days ago. I took it to the dealership and asked them to check it out..unfortunately they told me that it would cost me $125.00 just for the mechanic to look at it. I checked the engine and everything appears normal... I'm still looking for the answer..it appears like the needle just shot up to high. I have 103,000 miles on my vehicle. Of course, stuff always happen when your extended warrantly expires.

I have an 05 pathfinder and it is doing the same thing. The oil gauge does not move from the High position. What's weird with mine is my RPM's and spedometer randomly show higher even at idle (about 1 time a week). I would like to know what it could be also...

Hey all. I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4. We recently moved to Maryland for a job and found out they do vehicle inspections here. My Pathfinder has had the engine light on for some time and the dealership gave us information that the light is either a catalytic converter OR O2 Sensors (4 total). I replaced the DS Front one and the light popped back on so recently I went on EBAY and bought all for for a heck of a lot cheaper and NEW. In the time since, my oil pressure gauge is pegged on HIGH also, so for $17 I went on EBAY and bought a new one to do it all at once on a rack. It is said to disconnect the battery and remove all O2 sensors and replace. You may also clean them using a cup of gas covering them over night but I will opt to replace to be safe. Good Luck and UGH!

Get the codes read and post them here - there may be a TSB on the subject and all you may require is ECM reprogramming. Although I guess you've already dealt with them if I follow your post correctly.

I'd suggest replacing your oil pressure sending unit rather than the gauge itself. I assume that's what you were referring to when you're saying you got one for $17 on eBay.
