Yes I had to replace mine around 80k miles. It caused a grinding noise when driving slowly and made braking jerky/uneven. The wheel was never loose and you could never wiggle it but another way to tell which bearing is bad is to take the brake pads off or the caliper off on both sides at the same time and spin your wheel. You should be able to hear which wheel is grinding.

I think mine might be going bad. Is it possible that the sound might be the only symptom? it would be impossible for my to take my tires off without going to the dealer. I have no other symptoms though. No jerking, nothing. Just a screeching sound when braking at low speed and I think I'm hearing a slight low pitch sound when driving, but I'm not sure. If it's there, it's really quiet, because I'm not sure if I'm hearing it or not even with windows rolled down. I have around 45k miles

I recently noticed a humming sound coming from the front-end when the car reaches about 25+ mph. At first I thought it might the tires because they are getting thin and they are out of balance but, this morning driving in the rain I could tell the humming sound is the same on dry or wet pavement. Also, it's there no matter what the pavement surface so I doubt that it is tire related. I reached in and grabbed the front right drive-shaft (the short one) and where the u-joint connects to the engine there is a tiny bit of slack in the shaft, meaning you can move it back n forth maybe a 1/32". Is this normal or is that bearing going bad? I guess it could be the wheel bearings too, my M35X has 96K miles on it. Has anyone ever had a problem with the front drive-shaft bearings going bad? I would think those bearings would be good for 300K+.

Thanks!

I had my front wheel hub bearings replaced at about 76,000 miles. They started making a humming grinding noise, worse when turning coming off the highway on the off-ramp. Since your vehicle is AWD, there could be other issues.

I am at 128,000 miles and to my knowledge have never had any issues with the wheel bearings. But I bought the car at 70k miles, and if an independent shop replaced the bearings sometime before 70k I have no idea.

Mine went out at ~ 80,000 miles, 2006 M35X. Symptoms seemed as if my front tires were going bad or had a bad CV joint. Visually inspected the tires and CV boots (CV normally fail when the rubber boot rips/rots and breaks - leaks CV grease in the hub area). I replace the wheel bearings and it fixed the problem. Was unable to tell if the bearings were bad on the car, but clearly shot (grinding) when I removed and spun by hand.

About $240 in parts and not a difficult job if you wrench some.

Good luck

I bought a bearing for my driver front, sent it to an independent shop, and they ended up using it on the passenger front (they had initially told me they thought it was the driver front, but when they double-checked before removal, they found out it was the other). Perhaps your passenger front is the bad one? Not saying it couldn't be something else, but I'm lucky my independent guy checked. For the record, I'm pretty sure that bearing was bad at 40K or 50K Mi, but Infiniti said it was fine and they couldn't hear/feel the noise (I was hoping to get a warranty repair), and I didn't replace it until 142K Mi at which point the noise was very obvious and the bearing was difficult to turn by hand at all (I guess the noise got louder so gradually over that 100K Mi that I was used to it once I was told it was fine).

My 07 doesn't even have 50K on it yet and I had to have one of my bearings changed under the extended warranty

FYI: Canadian owners, when you will need to replace your wheel bearing hubs on your cars, dealer will ask for about $300 each!!! You can get them for $150 from US Infiniti dealerships through Ebay. SAved me A LOT of money as I need 2 of them:) Installation should not be more than $80 each, or $60 if you are gonna kiss some a**:))) :inoutgay:

I am having the same issue with the squeaking/grinding wheel around 20-25MPH. It also seems to get louder while turning. At first I thought it would be my tires since i am still on crap RSA'S, now I think I have found the problem thanks to this forum. Would it be wise to just change out both front hubs? The parts are $150 each off the internet/Ebay for OEM as appose to the $300 each side at the stealership.

You could change both, but why?! Just find the one that makes noise and change it...Later when the other will go you can change it (and it will, soon:) )
