The setup I listed gives you: dedicated iPod interface (through the 30 pin iPod connector that TXT mentions), wireless BT streaming (through the USA SPEC RCA inputs via the iSimple cable and BT adapter), and still leaves the factory A/V inputs available for other devices.

One last thing, which dip-switches do I set? I have an 06 M35 and I don't understand how to do the presets. That part is super frustrating...

SmooovC!

Thank you so much for the notes, they were invaluable to my friend and I. We finished the install yesterday at 4:30PM. Taking out the backseats was quite the chore. It took approx 4 hours to complete because we are a couple of n003s when it comes to this type of stuff haha.

So one issue, we fried the BTR that I bought off of Amazon...

http://www.amazon.com/Patuoxun%C2%AE-Bl ... h+receiver

I am not sure if it was able to handle the 12V capacity or it . In any case, I went to the store and picked up another unit which had a button on it, which activates the BTR when it's plugged in. The BTR works really well when it is on, but when I turn off the car, the unit does not turn back on by itself.

Since the Anycomm unit is no longer available, and the first one I used burned out, the second one I have has a button, what type of unit do I need to purchase?

Any ideas?
Sounds to me like a defective unit; it should have worked fine, as it is made for the 30 pin iPod connection. I would have the seller warranty it for you.

I do not recall the dipswitch settings, as I did this a couple of years ago.... I do recall the manual was very explicit as far as these, although it did take a couple of times reading it to fully understand.

Your answer is at 25 seconds into the video. The whole video however is very useful.

This update is for moedawg140 who PM'd me about some details. I'm unable to reply back via PM (says I need to participate more before I can use that feature).

The Dice MediaBridge does not use any of the connections in the trunk. It's connections are all made directly to the back of the cd-changer. The factory satellite radio molex connector will remain disconnected after the MediaBridge is installed (I believe its a 12 pin connector), and the MediaBridge 12-pin connector will install into the satellite radio slot on the back of the cd-changer. The factory 20-pin molex connector will install into the MediaBridge pass-through, and the MediaBridge 20-pin connector will install into the back of the cd-changer. Out of the box, the MediaBridge does disable factory satellite radio (since its cable is left disconnected). I have not looked at options to keep satellite radio (never used it).

I did not take any pictures of my install, but these are the two articles I used. The steps for accessing the back of the radio are identical to the Grom How-To, and the FX posts have some good info about the system.

Removing the cd-changer was surprisingly easy. I left the battery connected, and had to start the car into ACC a couple of times to move the shifter. I did not have any problems with error codes even while the cd-changer was disconnected. I do suggest stuffing some rags into all the holes an crevices as you remove the panels to prevent screws from falling through. Dropping a screw into the open console is easy to do and not easy to retrieve.

Thanks for the update, lastig21, I appreciate it! I will be installing the Audiovox/Dice MediaBridge later today (firmware update was a breeze via mini USB), and looking forward to hearing cleaner iPhone 5 audio (not having to use the stock rear RCA ports which doesn't sound very clear). Also it will be nice to have the ability for other passengers in the car with non-iPhones to hook up to it and hear clean audio.

To this day, is the USA Spec PA-INFI still the best option to go with if you want iPhone/iPod capabilities in your 06-07 M? Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure whom, if anyone, said that the USA Spec PA-INFI was the best option to go with if you want iPhone/iPod capabilities in your 06-07 M. The reason why I say this, is that none of us can say which system is better unless we have installed different integration systems in our cars and could hear differences (flatter/broader, less/more bass, less/more treble, overall 'quality' of sound, etc.) I remember reading on the forum that the Grom integration kit wasn't that great though. There might be a new integration kit that is out today that might be better than the USA Spec, or my Dice/Audiovox MediaBridge integration kit, but nobody would know unless you installed and tested them all out. And who knows, the USA Spec's updated firmware might be better (overall 'quality' of sound is better) than my Dice/Audiovox's factory firmware, and vice versa. Also, what I like my system to sound like may not be at all what the next person likes. So, instead of saying what's the best, I'll tell you my experience with my system, full name: Dice MBR-1502-NIS Nissan/Infiniti MediaBridge Multimedia Integration Kit with Bluetooth (20-Pin Power Connector), and you can choose the system that seems like it would be the best for your needs.

All of this is driven from my iPhone 5.

First the cons:

- Track information on the screen is hit or miss, meaning, it will show you the track information when you press the STATUS button, but if you set the system to 'scroll', it will sometimes not scroll, and it will sometimes show the last part of the track (scrolled already without scrolling first). If I want to really look at the track info, I just look on the iPhone 5. So basically, if you MUST have track information on the screen, with scrolling working 100%, this will not be the system for you.

- You can access the iPhone's music through different playlists/settings to access the album, artist, etc. on the radio, but this is very cumbersome and you have to delay each button press to register correctly. Also, the iPhone will not show these changes (even if another song is being played). I do not access my iPhone this way at all and just access the music directly on the iPhone, or through the steering wheel and 'folder' knob on the radio to change tracks.

Now the positives:

- Since the system is going through the SAT connection and through the USB Apple Lightning connector, the audio is 'clean' and 'transparent', in my opinion at least as clean as 320KB encoded CDs, but not as good as 5.1 DVD Audio Surround Sound.

- Start up is instant when you start the car/turn the engine on ACC/ON mode. I love how the system automatically plays the song that is queued in the given app, may it be Apple's iTunes, Slacker or my new favorite, Neutron Player.

- Notifications are clear and automatically turns down whatever song I'm playing, i.e. Waze app hazard/police alerts have priority. Email and SMS notifications have priority as well, though.

- I hold the up/down button on the steering wheel up for 2 seconds to track next and down for 2 seconds to track previous. I turn the 'folder' knob on the radio one tactile click right to track next and one tactile click left to track previous. The immediacy of moving from track to track is what's best about this.

- Firmware updates have been abundant (updated every few months), and shows that the company is still supporting the product, which usually means the product actually gets better through time.

For the price I paid at the time for the device ~$70 including tax and shipping, it was a no-brainer to purchase it and see if it was a worthy upgrade. Installation was really simple, took my friend and I about 30 minutes at a relatively slow pace, and the sound output is simply amazing!

IMO, between Grom and the other options that I've seen, the USA Spec is the best. It literally works as if it came from the factory. Steering wheel controls, never have issues with displaying song information, etc. and sounds great.

I recommend the USA Spec. PA15-NIS or INFI (depending on your car hands down). I was the one who wrote the review for it and the Grom. The Grom SUCKED BALLS.

The USA Spec. doesn't have any of the con's listed above. The only 'con' I can mentioned is that sometimes I have to unplug my iPod and plug it back in. I don't know if this is the iPod's fault or the USA Specs. That's the only time I unplug the damn thing or unless I'm taking it inside to load new music. Otherwise, it never leaves my glovebox.

Update on the MediaBridge Multimedia Integration Kit: updating the firmware to the latest version (in this case, as of 5-31-14 it is version #7106) all track information scrolling issues have been rectified, meaning there are absolutely zero issues with track displaying, or scrolling now. Performance is, as always, exemplary, and would not hesitate in recommending this device to anyone. Since I (and others) do not know which integration kit is the "best" without trying all of them out in the same vehicle and choosing the one that is musically superior, everyone in the end has an opinion. It is up to the person purchasing the respective integration (or any other type of) device to make the decision on what they think is the right one for them.
