I am Deployed right now and am obviously unable to check this myself. Are the 100 Amp Fuses located in the fuse box under the hood. The reason I ask is that my wife could not get the truck to start so she had it towed to the dealership, they told her the 100 Amp Fuse was blown. This is of course after an $82 diagnostic. They also told her it would cost an additional $109 for them to fix it, for maint fees, shop supplies, etc... Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

The 100 amp fuse usually blows when someone jumps the battery wrong [reversed polarity].

It bolts in so not as easy to change as other <30 amp fuses.

I asked her if she tried to jump it. She said she did. She said it wouldn't start so a freind of ours jumped it. Probably blew the fuse then. Sounds like the battery may not be holding a charge. After it started she said the lights weren't dimming at all which is usually a sign of a bad alternator. Thx for the help

Having changed my alternator 4 times last year on a '02 Xterra, ask her if the battery, ABS and/or airbag lights are on. If so they are all symptoms of a failing alternator or loose belt. They should check the belt after changing the fuse. If it is the stock battery, it could be time to replace it.

I got sick of the Nissan ones and got a Mean Green Alternator with 180 amps. The standard X alt is 80 amps. It still puzzles me why Nissan would put the alternator at the bottom of the bay in a 4x4 where it would be expected to be covered in muck.

I'll have her do that when she gets it back from the dealership. Thx
