Hey guys, before I start I've read the stickys and been searching all day, so here's my situation, today I installed my pioneer dehx6500bt deck, I used the factory amp integration harness with the rca cables, antenna adapter, etc. I get sound but its really low, like in another car I had this deck 40 would be loud, in the pathy I need to have it around 50-max for somewhat bareable sound, I'm guessing its something to do with the factory Bose amps, do you somehow have to get them to turn up somehow? Holding off on my sub install until I get this ironed out. Thanks guys.

It's usually due to a crappy cheap amp integration harness. There are some that have adjustable line in dials for volume...

Would a line driver also work I've seen them for about $20 I'll also see if I can find different integration harness maybe

I've heard that problem a few times here. It's because of the Bose amps:

Everything I've read says the way to fix it is to not use them, unfortunately :frown:

yeah your best bet it so run new wires from the pioneer radio straight to each speakers, your new pioneer headunit already has an amp built in, so why run it into another amp(the stock bose one)
its better for quality and power to run new speaker wires to each door speaker when using an aftermarket radio, this is how i have mine set up in my pathy and i have a sub installed also, i removed the stock amp completely from the car

Just quick question on that, did you keep the stock speakers in the doors, I don't have the flow to be buying new speakers. Thought I read somewhere they were something like 1ohm and that they would need to be replaced, done plenty of other installs but this one is becoming a challenge lol. Thanks for your help so far guys!

No I didn't keep my stock speakers lol I had Bose also, but I think they are 4 ohms also, if you take one out the door panel you will see the ohm rating on the back of the stock speaker, I have all Rockford fosgate speakers on my doors now and I used the wires the speakers came with to hook directory up to my headunit bypassing all stock wiring and amps

Just so you know the bose head unit is some weird low pass radio I believe you need to install a Hi to Low filter b4 u connect into your bose amps , messed up system in our trucks and also the 6 1/2's are 2ohm speakers only the tweeters are 4ohm for whatever reason good luck with your install. Other option is new wires from h/u to speakers like they posted

Good to know. Last week at a junk yard I looked at the back of a QX4's speakers and they don't have the ohm ratings stamped on them. From my understanding, running 2ohm speakers from a standard 4ohm head unit will eventually burn things up (but how long will you actually own your car?).

I had the same issue when I did my radio. I used the bose adapter and it worked fine but was very low. I removed it and went speaker out to the factory amplifier and it worked perfect and sounds really good. Annoyed doing the job twice but now the radio works perfect.
